スマートうちわを用いた身体動作に基づく 空間の快適性および盛り上がりの評価手法

Abstract

This study proposes a method for evaluating spatial comfort and excitement using a “smart uchiwa” equipped with acceleration and gyroscope sensors. The proposed device captures users’natural uchiwa motions during events and utilizes unconscious body movements as indicators of subjective states in event spaces. For comfort evaluation, a field experiment was conducted at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. The results showed significant differences in uchiwa motions between indoor and outdoor environments. In particular, changes in uchiwa usage over time were observed in indoor environments, suggesting that natural uchiwa motions reflect users’ thermal comfort and adaptation processes. For excitement evaluation, motion data were collected during official high school basketball games. Logistic regression using motion features extracted from the smart uchiwa achieved a high recall of 0.950 for excitement intervals. Feature importance analysis further showed that gyroscope and acceleration features were strongly related to cheering motions such as swinging and hitting the uchiwa. These results demonstrate that the proposed smart uchiwa can evaluate both spatial comfort and excitement through natural body motions without requiring environmental sensors or explicit user input.
